Ace Frehley – The Morton Downey Jr. 1989

Ace Frehley at The Morton Downey Jr. Show 1989
Secaucus, NJ, USA

Recorded from WWOR Channel 9 TV back in 1989.
Morton Downey Jr. was a conservative radio and television talk show host.  The format for his television program gave birth to what became the mainstream in the late 90’s:  Jerry Springer, Maury Povich, and the like.  In my opinion Mort was better and much more real.
The main topic of this show is weather or not buisness is controlling and ruining the rock and roll scene.
Guests on the show include:

  • Stuart Goldman:  Critic
  • Ace Frehley:  KISS
  • Joey Ramone:  The Ramones
  • Scottie Ian:  Anthrax
  • Steve Whitaker:  Barren Cross
  • Alex Mitchell:  Circus Of Power
  • Honey One Percenter:  Cycle Sluts From Hell
  • Queen Vixen:  Cycle Sluts From Hell
  • Jesse Nash:  Rock Critic
  • Johnny Z:  President MegaForce Records
  • David Clark:  Genesis Magazine

The program is incomplete.  It is missing the last segment which had no interviews and was only a performance by the band Circus Of Power.
The quality varies during the course of the tape.  Some tape noise is present at times, and while this is by no means in pristine condition, it is very watchable and very enjoyable.  Hell what do you expect from a 19 year old tape recorded by a 13 year old kid at the time who obviously knew nothing of proper storage conditions for years after this was recorded.
As a bonus I have also included an interview that Ace Frehley did on Headbanger’s Ball to promote the “Trouble Walking” album.  The quality is not as good as the ‘Morton Downey Jr’ footage.  He is interviewed by the always sexy ‘Downtown’ Julie Brown.  It was on the same tape directly after the Morton Downey Jr. footage so I thought what the hell just add it on.
